How to use the GST calculator

Enter the amount, choose a GST rate (5%, 12%, 18%, 28%, or a custom percent), and pick exclusive or inclusive. Exclusive adds GST to a net price. Inclusive peels GST out of a gross price. Intra-state splits the tax equally into CGST and SGST; inter-state applies the full amount as IGST. Choose Calculate, then Copy results if you need the breakdown. Nothing is uploaded, and this page does not file tax.

Frequently asked questions

What is exclusive GST versus inclusive GST?

Exclusive GST sits on top of a net amount: tax is extra, and the total is net plus GST. Inclusive GST is already baked into a gross amount, so the calculator works backwards to the net price and the tax inside the total.

What is the difference between CGST, SGST, and IGST?

For an intra-state supply, GST is split equally into Central GST and State GST. For an inter-state supply, the same GST figure is charged as a single Integrated GST (IGST) instead. This tool shows that split; it does not decide which place-of-supply rule applies to your invoice.

What GST rates does this calculator use?

The presets are the slabs people look up most often in India: 5%, 12%, 18%, and 28%. Eighteen percent is the default. Type any other percentage in the rate field when a notification or a different goods rate applies.

Is this official tax advice or a filing tool?

No. Figures are estimates for checking an invoice or planning a quote. They are not official tax advice, not a substitute for GST law or a tax professional, and the page cannot file returns.

Does the GST calculator upload my amounts?

No. Addition and extraction run in your browser. Deskutil never receives the amount, the rate, or the breakdown.
